Munchings on Republic Day !
Quickly she prepared and had her dinner while navigating through Facebook feeds, Twitter posts, Instagram photos. She saw check ins of few of her friends into resorts or dine ins or highways. "Aargh", she cried, her happiness taking a sharp turn as she could not go out of city to have fun. Never mind, she said to herself. Some other day !
Quickly she googled few pics and related quotes. "This will do", she said to herself.
She cleared up the mess in kitchen, and readied herself for bed, fighting the sleep, and tiredness, waiting patiently for clock to struck 12.
The moment it did, she quickly changed her Facebook profile photo to a Temporary one of her gone to Wagah border some 2 years back. She then posted the picture and quote she had google beforehand with a bold "Happy Republic Day!!". Same was repeated on Twitter, Instagram, G+.
Soon she started getting likes, and comments and notifications.
Of course she didn't mind getting them late at night. It was a Company Holiday tomorrow or today technically. She started replying "Thanks", liking back comments, conversing.
One of her non Indian friend asked, "What's this Republic Day?". She was all too ready to enlighten him with significance of Republic Day, that "This was the day the Constitution of India came into existence after being independent." He again asked few more questions, "When did it happen", "Who made it", etc she was more than happy to oblige. Although a quick google or Wikipedia could have answered all his queries. Nevertheless she felt contented that she could reply it all without referring either.
Having showcased her bit of Patriotism, It was time to sleep peacefully, to wake up and watch "Republic Day Parade" on TV, movie in a multiplex and some shopping @Delhi Haat.
"Ohh! we should get more such Holidays in between a busy week", she mumbled to herself and succumbed to sleep in her quilt.
Somewhere near her, in an open abandoned park, there was a troupe finalizing their rehearsals for Republic Day. They thought to do one more round, so that tomorrow's performance is perfect.
Somewhere far away from her were Indian soldiers safeguarding the Country in freezing temperature, so that no harm could come in way of tomorrow's celebration or any other day, for that matter!!
